Thank you to the author of this fantastic review! Keep it up, team.

"What a great experience I had at Mazda of Oakland. I went for a headlight bulb change - they got me in on time for my appt; changed it within 15minutes; and only charged me for the light bulb - $26!! I told the service advisor of my experience at another Mazda dealer that charged me $135 - he said wow - we don't charge for labor on a light bulb change - that would just be bad customer service!! He is right - I will from now on only go to Mazda of Oakland. WONDERFUL SERVICE!!" --Lisa

Mazda launches the brand new CX-5 with SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY

Mazda

Mazda Motor Corporation today announced the launch of the all-new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV through all Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealers throughout Japan. The CX-5 is to be launched in the crossover SUV market, which is growing all around the world, and will become a core model in the Mazda lineup. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (including taxes) ranges from 2,050,000 yen to 3,190,000 yen, and the sales target in Japan is 1,000 units per month.

The all-new CX-5 is the first model to adopt Mazda's breakthrough SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY*1 including gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, body and chassis, offering a predictable and refined driving experience together with outstanding fuel economy. Particular attention was paid to design, dynamic performance, functionality, environmental and safety performance, to offer customers a stylish vehicle with a predictable and responsive driving experience, insightful features that are useful to the customer that they can enjoy for a long time.

Takashi Yamanouchi, Mazda's Representative Director and Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, says, "In this day and age, being environmentally friendly is a given. We want to offer our customers outstanding environmental and safety performance together with driving enjoyment. To ensure that we can do so, Mazda has completely renewed all the basic elements of the car, from the powertrain including engine and transmission, to the body and the chassis. The first of Mazda's new generation of products to fully incorporate our SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY is the CX-5. As we launch new products moving forward, Mazda will continue to offer all customers driving enjoyment combined with outstanding environmental and safety performance".

The all-new CX-5 has a line-up of two new-generation engines. The model equipped with Mazda's SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine meets Japan's Post New Long-Term Emissions Regulations without an expensive NOx after-treatment device, while at the same time delivering excellent fuel economy of 18.6km/L (JC08 mode), the highest of any SUV*2, and maximum torque of 420Nm, delivering powerful dynamic performance equivalent to a 4.0L, V8 gasoline engine. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0L model, equipped with the highly-efficient direct injection gasoline engine, also includes for the first time Mazda's 4-2-1 exhaust system. The driver can enjoy the linear and powerful driving sensation created by the feeling of oneness with the car, while at the same time benefiting from outstanding fuel economy of 16.0km/L (FWD model, JC08 mode).

Both models are subject to the Japan's tax incentives to promote eco-cars (eco-car tax reduction program), as well as tax breaks for the vehicle weight tax and vehicle acquisition tax incurred at time of purchase (the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 model is tax exempt, and the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 model has a 75% tax deduction). The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 model is also subject to the subsidies for measures designed to promote introduction of clean energy vehicles.

In terms of design, the CX-5 is the first model to fully embody Mazda's new design theme, KODO - SOUL of MOTION. With finely-honed vitality and dynamism, the car's styling is reminiscent of a cheetah about to pounce on its prey.

For the interior, Mazda's aim was to create an enjoyable space that is comfortable for everyone in the vehicle in any situation. The 40:20:40 split fold-down seat backs and karakuri folding configuration means that even when carrying long objects, two adults can sit comfortably in the rear seats. This functionality is offered as a standard feature for the XD L Package, the XD and the 20S grades. Other items offered as standard features for all grades include the door pockets with bottle holder to carry a one-liter bottle, and a function to display in the rearview mirror images from the side monitor and reverse guiding monitor to aid parking.

The CX-5 employs Mazda's new-generation SKYACTIV-BODY light weight, highly rigid body and all model grades come with curtain and front side airbags, Dynamic Stability Control system and Traction Control System as standard safety equipment Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), helping to mitigate the damage from a collision by automatically controlling brake operation is also introduced, as an advanced safety technology available in the CX-5. (This system is standard equipment for XD L Package and factory installed set option for the XD and 20S model grades.)

The Takeri is a dazzling blend of style, efficiency, and class.

Takeri

The Mazda Takeri Concept from last year’s Tokyo Motor Show is the best glimpse yet as to what the styling of the upcoming 2013 Mazda Mazda6 will look like.

Mazda even states that its latest concept points to the future design direction of its next-generation sedan, and that’s a good thing as we think the Takeri is one of the hottest design studies of the recent past.

The Takeri is now set for its European debut, which will be taking place at next month’s Geneva motor Show.

In the lead-up to the show, Mazda has released a flood of new Takeri images, showing it in the best light yet and from almost every angle. The Takeri is the latest concept to adopt Mazda’s ‘Kodo - Soul of Motion’ design theme and further develops the vision of the equally-stunning 2010 Mazda Shinari Concept.

Under its pretty sheet metal, the Takeri features Mazda’s latest SKYACTIV-D diesel engine, which comes matched to SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission and features engine stop-start technology. It also features Mazda’s new i-ELOOP (short for “Intelligent Energy Loop”) brake energy recovery technology. Like similar systems offered by rival automakers, the stored energy drawn from the brakes is used to run the vehicle’s electric components, thereby reducing the load on the engine and increasing fuel economy by up to 10 percent.

Expect many of these technologies to debut on the redesigned 2013 Mazda Mazda6 due out later this year.
